The Role Reporting to the Development Manager you will be an experienced, competent and diligent Perl developer, joining the core technical development team as an Application lead. As such, your contribution to current and future products will be fundamental to the continuing growth and development of the business. "Net-a-porter's brilliant online site is the only truly luxurious buying experience that I've come upon the internet," The Times, UK Responsibilities: As an Application Lead you will be required to: • Develop a good understanding of the business requirements. • Produce a technical specification and design, describing in detail how the requirements will be achieved. • Develop, test and deliver high quality, web based Perl applications • Work closely with the Business Analysis, Project Management and QA teams to finish projects on time, follow quality checking procedures and deliver a product to meet specification. • Assist with the release of the work into the production environment and take responsibility to ensure the change is successful. • Assist with the organisation of ongoing application support tasks • Direct, assess and review the application development team's day-to-day work Essential Skills & Requirements • An excellent understanding of Perl code and conventions on a Linux platform. • Performance and load testing of mission critical high availability enterprise applications. • An excellent understanding of current best practice CPAN modules and frameworks, particularly DBI, DBIx::Class, Catalyst and Template Toolkit. • An excellent understanding of Perl testing frameworks • Experience of developing high quality web-based user interfaces.
