We are looking for a perl web developer to join the team whose main role is the development and maintenance of the Ensembl Genomes websites ( http://www.ensemblegenomes.org ) The applicant must have experience in web technologies and visualisation and have a proven track record of working on large-scale web applications and understand the challenges posed by such systems including scalability, response time, usability and multiple browser support. S/he will be able to show extensive web programming experience, including client side scripting capabilities, Perl programming and experience with relational databases. Experience with web centric technologies such as CSS and AJAX would be beneficial as would experience with the existing Ensembl code base.
